Team South Dakota is Going to Open Water Zones - REGISTRATION NOW OPEN

Team South Dakota is SENDING a group of swimmers to the Central Zones Open Water Championship meet in Pleasant Prairie, WI. 

Team SD has approved us attending open water zones! We are trying to get a team together asap. We know it is a quick turn around, but we would like swimmers to register on the SD Zones page by June 1st. The webpage is live. You can use the link below to register. This meet is for all ages, not just 14 and under.

The dates are June 12-13. The qualifying time is a NAG "A" time in a "distance" event. See below for what qualifies as a "distance" event in each age group.  

  • Open 5K: Minimum 15-16 “A” Time in 400/500, 800/1000 or 1500/1650 Freestyle 
  • 13-14 2.5K: Minimum 13-14 “A” Time in 400/500, 800/1000 or 1500/1650 Freestyle 
  • 11-12 2.5K: Minimum 11-12 “A” Time in 200, 400/500, 800/1000, or 1500/1650 Freestyle
  • 10&Under 1.25K: Minimum 10&Under “A” Time in 200 or 400/500 Freestyle 

This Open Water Zones provides an open water "clinic" in the evening prior to the race to teach swimmers about open water swimming. This is a great opportunity if any of your swimmers are interested in trying open water! Right now, all we are looking to find out is if there is significant interest among the swimmers to put forth the effort to send a team. 

If a swimmer is interested and close to a qualifying time, l would recommend you register to indicate your intent to participate, should you qualify. There is no risk if they don't end up qualifying. The last day to achieve a qualifying time is June 9th. If they don't achieve the time by then, we can remove them from the roster. 
 
This will be a family travel meet, not a team travel meet.  We have reserved a block of rooms for families to get their own hotel rooms.

We will plan on having a team dinner on Thursday, June 12th, location TBD. SD LSC will cover the cost of meet entry fees, coaching expenses, and a team t-shirt. Families will be responsible for travel, food, and lodging.
